Image
While a debate goes on the skin color and the side effects of lightening crèmes, no makeup looks etc. but at the same point there is no denial that we love to wear color, be it on our face, hair or body. 16   shringars   have been known since time  immemorial and so make up has always been an essential part of human existence, be it the tribal paintings with feather head gears or a high fashion look on a ramp. Though Indian women love to wear makeup, but the ever evolving industry has always been ruled by International brands having better product offering, even the name  Lakme, an Indian brand,  is an international version of “ Lakshmi ”; how many of we know about this fact? However one sad truth of the economical aspect also is that that the same Indian brands when export, give out a better version to neighbouring countries, both in terms of quality and packaging. With onset of the new millennium, in late 90’s; the Indian makeup industry witnessed a g...

"Wife or a Whore?" Or Dust under her feet!

Image
Well, this is one statement which after a certain age applies to women.. pls note the word "AGE"!! This was mentioned in a book reading session by Sharbari Zohra Ahmed, in her Debut Novel, "Dust under her feet!" The Quantico scriptwriter moves from an International thriller, expressing a high voltage drama series for Hollywood and now back into the 1940s, where her story revolves around Yasmine Khan, the protagonist. Sharbari expresses that it was probably Yasmine Khan, the focal point chose her, cause while writing the fiction,  she could clearly go back into times and see the visuals of the yesteryears when World War II had set in.. There is a lot which Sharbari has contributed into this novel, above her body mind and soul.. fifteen years have gone into crafting the epic! What beyond? The Author has actually gone to the libraries of Kolkata, dug out their archival section, newspapers, magazines, hunting for facts and figures of the 1940s.  ...

International Men’s day just passed by, and not much pomp and show could be seen compared to the “weaker sex” as we state so!! Women’s day where every nook and corner of our country is full of offers, celebrations, discounts in stores to lure the lady, empowering talks for the Empress so to say!! (chuckle) Probably Men don’t require much of loud publicity cause somewhere on reality grounds he knows that he holds the control compared to the weaker sex.. and the empowering talks are nothing but a “publicity gimmick” for him ( to sit back in silence and create more jokes on women) So, just two days before this Men’s day event, I got to meet Apurva Purohit, President, Jagran Group, she has authored another book with a title LADY, YOU’RE the BOSS! The book comes out after a series of research and reflects some alarming facts and figures which do not match with the perfectly painted and layered pictures shown on the silver screen. While the malls and stores run majorly o...

Have we heard the term female foeticide in animals, from where has this concept been seeded in and emerged? Probably the seed lies in ownership... Ownership of a girl child till her life!! From the day, this tradition of parting away from girls after marriage has emerged; lands into a series of cascading effects. One primarily being, the another house she lands into is mostly a frictional mode of relationships. The girl is always seen as a foreign body amidst the environment, the major shift of a foreign body attracts a lot of insecurities, adjustment of perspectives, thought processes, adaptation etc. the process is so complex that it lasts for years, passing on generations of the baggage of mom-in-laws; or if not, the modern day has a solution called divorce . Let us begin with the se...
