What is your Outfit? Are you the Boss? Lady..
International Men’s day
just passed by, and not much pomp and show could be seen compared to the “weaker
sex” as we state so!! Women’s day where every nook and corner of our country is
full of offers, celebrations, discounts in stores to lure the lady, empowering
talks for the Empress so to say!! (chuckle)
Probably Men don’t require
much of loud publicity cause somewhere on reality grounds he knows that he holds the
control compared to the weaker sex.. and the empowering talks are nothing but a
“publicity gimmick” for him ( to sit
back in silence and create more jokes on women)
So, just two days before
this Men’s day event, I got to meet Apurva Purohit, President, Jagran Group,
she has authored another book with a title LADY, YOU’RE the BOSS! The book
comes out after a series of research and reflects some alarming facts and figures
which do not match with the perfectly painted and layered pictures shown on the
silver screen.
While the malls and stores
run majorly on women’s apparel and cosmetics and if we talk about the latter; the cosmetics market in India in 2018 – 2019 is
valued at about USD 6.5 billion and these occupy huge spaces.... now, let’s take a sneak peek into the book so I
extract some lines and precisely, in correlation, raise some points!!
“There is a ceiling beyond
which you cannot grow, as only 17% of start-ups have a woman partner, just 5%
of senior management roles in organisations are filled by women and only 3% of
VC funding goes to women entrepreneurs. There are hardly any women in policy
making or as IIM directors”.
‘If we look into the
bedrooms and boardrooms, we can easily spot lazy husbands and difficult bosses
capturing the entire space!’...... and Lady, you look great in that lipstick and
the expensive outfit as another glam property to add value to the ownership.
While the cosmetics occupy
most expensive spaces, the women are taught from childhood to restrict themselves.”
(paradox) “don’t talk too much, don’t laugh out loud, and many such don’ts”
hence we are conditioned to lead a silent dumb feeble life (with that perfect shade on... showpiece to BE..?) while there is an
entire Universe residing in us.”
Anurag has penned down
various anecdotes telling about women who don’t accept promotions, give up her
rightful raise in order to protect the rightful male ego. The existence of single
women is still a BIG question, and will you work after marriage even a bigger
question which is raised to a 35-year-old lady, COO of a company!! (And we talk
about empowerment on a daily basis, ofcourse to celebrate women's day for the event management companies..lol), ending up in a tribe scared of marriages
or committed relationships.
While we talk about being
open and aware of ourselves, our roles and responsibilities as a woman; in another
interesting chapter Apurva throws light on Consistence along with commitment is
equally important, termed as KKN rule: Kehna,
Karna ur Nibhana. This rule applies to both home and workplace.. how
trivial the commitment is we must honour that!
So probably after Self
awakening, self-realisation, and knowing self-worth, seeping in are
evolutionary changes that come with a breed of first-generation working women.
Women who have started analysing the strategically positioned emotional games
wherein she gives up her entire self, in the name of being a wife or a mother
as the nurturer of the same male breed who will take over us again.
So beyond the regular
discussions, meets and insights we gather about ourselves, the women, which are
intended to refuel our strength and beliefs of our own tribe which are beyond
the “Culture Vulture” and Sacrosanct beliefs
we are carrying in our DNA imprint. Beyond
the books and the laws which are redefined daily after a series of amendments,
my question yet is about the entire ecosystem
of the dual upbringing of the whole female tribe which leaves us confused in the new age of enlightenment and education, that of self-realisation (this is also
what our religious texts also teach, especially Gita).
Do we still welcome a girl
child in this world?
The upbringing which her
parents do for 20 to 30 years span of her early age has to be washed away, be
it her attire or anything.. are her parents wrong?
The surname she has to shed
off, sacrosanct?
We have many divorce cases
nowadays and that of multiple marriages, what therefore is in a name? The name
outfit again you wear to display your identity (to whom?), which even we the
women tribe don’t have clarity upon!!
Where do our property
rights lie when there are cases of desertion, triple talaq and the most wanted
sons throwing you out in old age homes?
Are we the women tribe teaching
our Men the right lessons? to maintain
the equilibrium) and to respect the opposite gender... rather teaching Humanity over gender biases!!
Let’s pull our socks and
get back to ground zero, the reality!! How many are actually ready to throw off
the baggage of social shields (which is not the true image).
Is the current women tribe
teaching our sons, the coming generation who will be working with “empowered
women” to treat them right and equal, if it’s about gender parity. So let us change the forums from women
empowerment discussions to teaching men the respect they must give women.
Can we bring back the
societies of peace which has been written in my earlier blog also, let the
daughter remain in the same ecosystem where she has been brought up without
changing her outfit – that of name, home and attire. Both the man and woman
meet for progeny and procreation...
Anyways if the current
working tribe is mostly traveling so how does the address matter?
What is the ultimate
objective of the currently depressed and confused human race? Peace and increasing happiness quotient. Let's learn from the North East regions of India Mosuo’s
of China which have been termed as ‘Societies of Peace’ even in the World
Congress.
So the master or The captain is you Lady Boss!! Be your own Boss with a Blueprint of your life..
chart your path!! That’s the real Glorious you!!
Lady, YOU'RE THE BOSS by Apurva Purohit - Book reading session was held on 18th November 2019 at Cowrks Gurgaon. The event was organised by Gurgaon Moms.
