Peeping into Past…. Gandhi from Swiss Lens!!

March 1930, a Swiss lens man leaves for a 20,000 km road journey, by car; and his works on our Satyagraha leader, freedom fighter, renowned for ahimsa (non-violence) worldwide, anti-British movement… all were published in his book Indien Kampft in 1931 … which as a cherished treasure have now been brought to India. Mahatma Gandhi in his daily routine, very personal moments, candid photography clicked by World famous photographer Walter Bosshard . Not only this, he travelled across Asia and captured a parallel world where  Mao Zedong, another revolutionary in China, was preparing for a war. Gandhi and Mao have contrasting similarities; both have been activists taking completely different paths as fighters. One chose non-violence for his country leading anti-British Quit India Movement and Mao in China fought a revolutionary battle against the caste and class demarcations. “Chaar Sahibzade” – Children of India

Four young lads, closest to their father, Guru Gobind Singhji, following his footsteps to protect Hindus and their rights, all the four sons died a heroic death fighting and not submitting to Mughals for conversion to Islam. Background:  On 20 th December 1704, Guru Gobind Singhji with 400 sikhs had to leave Anandpur Sahib in Punjab; as all supplies of food and ammunition were cut. He along with his soldiers and children were promised a safe passage to leave Anandpur Sahib by Mughals by an oath signed by Emperor Aurangzeb sworn over Quran...but these proved meaningless as they all were brutally attacked by lakhs of Mughal troops who were fully equipped with arms and ammunition. Guru Gobind Singhji had written to Aurangzeb when he broke his promise. The verses are in Zafarnamah !! “13: Aurangzeb! I have no trust in your oaths anymore. (You have written that) God is one and that He is witness (between us). 14: I don’t have trust equivalent to even a drop (of water) ...

Crossing a mark of more than 50 years, celebrating his golden accomplishments, divided in a series; Vrindavan Solanki today shared his life journey at Gujarat Vishvakosh Bhavan. He shared his artworks over a presentation first with the audiences describing his humble journey. Landscapes, Houses, Black and White, Potrait, Girnar Forrest, Mumbai Iconic landmarks and Mumbai street scenes etc. were the series for display as well in an exhibition. Remembering old days, Sri Vrindavan Solanki mentioned that one of his artwork on landscapes was exhibited in 1962 Lalit Kala, for which Sri Solanki also received an award. Life may look like a Cakewalk to some, but it isn't for many... Still when you face the challenge which life throws at you and glare into the eyes of that very hurdle...
