When Hurdles become your milestones

Life may look like a Cakewalk to some, but it isn't for many... Still when you face the challenge which life throws at you and glare into the eyes of that very hurdle... That's the very moment of transformation, the changing time, then is when you begin to keep counting your blessings the Universe throws at you.. infinite!!
Such is the story of a Marathon Runner, with just one kidney attached near her stomach; her kidney transplant in 2010 changed her life completely.
Today she boasts of numbers which for a normal lady too would sound unattainable. Today she dons stars of 45 Ten kilometer marathons and 14 half marathons on her shoulders... And various brand endorsements.

Shibani Gulati is the name tag of this SUPER "SHER"O.. or a SUPER SOUL!! Her better half, her soul mate, her hubby, Gautam Gulati, who has been a full support for Shibani cannot run more than 10km mark when he accompanies her in some of the marathons, however his seamless support has been there with Shibani, when she is on the run, ensuring that she gets her dose of nutrition and hydration, beyond that is quoted "moral support".

Another important aspect of her existence is her own brother and kidney donor who will also be running the world renowned Tata Motors Mumbai Marathon on 20th January 2019. “This will be an epic moment for both of us, where both the donor and the recipient will be part of the TMM, we will rewrite history!!” says Shibani, high on confidence and an exhilarating persona.

Besides the challenges a transplant patient has to undergo, that of seclusion, strict diet restrictions, medication and lot more.. she overcame all that with a fighting spirit... And now undergoes proper training regime which is a combination of strength training and running. With all her determination, Shibani is just taking 3mg of steroids compared to a daily dose of 1000 mg.
The list of her achievements is yet not over... Shibani, an excellent communicator, spreads her magic through words as well. She has been an announcer for Navy Half marathon.  Over and above, apart from the accolades her captivating persona has brought in many brand endorsements in her kitty.

Tales of her courageous spirit seem to be endless when I learnt that she has also travelled Solo, (we are talking about a person undergone kidney transplant who needs constant support). Coming out from an isolated enclosure, a journey started in 2012, when she was just 32 years, today when she looks back.. all those hurdles are her milestones!!

Kudos to life!! And the fittest don’t only survive but thrive too...

25th November 2018, was 14th Marathon of Shibani in Ahmedabad.

Today, 1st December 2018, she wins her first Gold medal at National transplant games
By Narmada kidney Foundation in Mumbai.
